In our last blog, we revisited the concept of growing gift card sales and pointed out that there is an art to doing so. The “art”, we find, is in the simplicity of advertising the fact that you sell gift cards all over your store and all over your website. It’s important, as well, to give your customers options so that they can choose to shop in either your physical store location or in your online store.
In today’s blog, we’ll continue to provide some top choice tips for how you can grow your gift card sales all summer long. Here are three:
1. Offer some gift cards for free.
The power of giving out freebies should not be underestimated. Free items help to encourage customer loyalty. After all, who doesn’t enjoy getting something for free? A free gift card works brilliantly as a way to ensure that its recipient will end up buying something in your store. Consider adding some free gift cards to the shopping bags of your biggest spenders.
“One extremely effective sales strategy is to use gift cards as a carrot to upsell your customers,” agrees SquareUp.com, “If you offer a free $20 gift card after people spend a certain amount, they’re more likely to grab a few extra items to meet that threshold. And if they end up giving the card to someone else, that’s a new customer for you.”
2. Promote your gift cards on social media.
As you’re surely aware, social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are used by millions of people all over the world each and every day. Using social media to market your brand should be considered a no-brainer. Use your company accounts to promote your gift cards and the word will spread fast. If, for some reason, you haven’t set up any social media accounts for your business, make it your first priority!
“Share a post on Facebook that says: ‘Did you know we sell gift cards online? It’s convenient way to give the perfect gift,’” suggests Zinoti.com, “Include a link to the gift card section of your online store along with a compelling image. Update your Facebook banner to advertise gift cards—it’s free and will attract more likes and more attention to your business.”
3. Leverage them as part of a loyalty program.
There’s no better type of promotion than word of mouth promotion. We’re sure this isn’t the first time we’ve pointed it out and we’re sure it won’t be the last. Is there any more effective way to encourage new customers to visit your store than to have your current customers recommend it to them? Why not offer free gifts to those who offer you referrals? It will go a long way in growing your brand recognition.
“A word-of-mouth endorsement is one of the best ways to get new clients,” agrees SquareUp.com, “Encourage this type of behaviour by offering people a small gift card when they refer new people.”
Electronic gift cards are known to encourage repeat business, attract new customers and boost sales all year long. For more information about how you can begin selling gift cards in your store, please don’t hesitate to call Canadian POS Corporation at 1-877-748-2884 or email us at info@localhost.
